We headed to Coloma to check out a new property that Nate was helping onboard as a short term rental with Vacasa.com and wasn't expecting much. It wasn't until we committed the rest of our afternoon to checking out the town when we realized how nice of a place this was to visit.
We started the day off at a roadside park on Lake Michigan just outside of downtown that we just so happened to drive by. Plenty of beach space, a small sand hill for kids to play on, and it was dog friendly. Hagar Park Beach, also dog friendly, is just 2 miles south down the road which we have also heard great things about. Both are right on Lake Michigan. You can't go wrong!

Although we didn't stop downtown, driving through you got some small town vibes. Plenty of hometown bars and restaurants. What really caught our eye was the old school movie theater. Minions was playing and just was we drove by there was a flood of families headed in. This would be a fun outing if you decide to plan a weekend in Coloma!
The Waterfront Grill was a beautiful place to grab a bite to eat (and dog friendly!) They are a bit on the higher end price wise, but so is their seafood. Their stuffed mushrooms and fish sandwich were delicious! The other perk, it's right on the shore of Paw Paw Lake which is open to the public. You can pull your boat or kayak right up to the dock at the restaurant and enjoy a beverage or a bite on the beach!
Paw Paw Lake Boat Ramp, 4643 Wil-O-Paw Dr #4585, Coloma, MI 49038
If you're looking for a pleasant, small town weekend getaway while enjoying the lake, this could be your next destination!
